Triac | Diac

DIAC serves to get the TRIAC turned on. A GATE pulse that is positive is required to turn the TRIAC on. In accordance with the time interval of this GATE pulse, the alternating output of TRIAC can be adjusted. DIAC uses DIAC to provide solely positive signals to the GATE of TRIAC It also stops the negative half-cycle.

Diac and Triac difference

Diac stands for Diode Ac Switch. Triac is for triode Ac Switch. Both are bidirectional. Triac has three terminals, while Diac has Two. Triac also has a gate terminal, while Diac doesn’t. The diac’s can be used as phase triggers or variable power control devices. Triacs can be used in high power or high voltage circuits.
